Trixie & Co. invite you to step right up and see “the eighth wonder!”
Now, in hushed voices we must warn you: don’t be surprised if at first you don’t understand. It’s too easy a mistake to confuse our Skull Island giant for an everyday-ordinary kid you could have known in high school (the kind that tucked a pair of drumsticks in the denim of a back pocket). Rather, trust and believe that your eyes do deceive; Donnie Dos (dba Dyke) blends right in with the rest of the three-ring Ego Machine, and he’s packing much, much more than a simple set of Promarks. He’s a larger-than-life pump-it-up-pro with a rocktastic whip that absolutely spanks the competition and is sure to leave a mark. Born with more than a fair share of drummer’s mojo and a trademark 1000-watt smile that’s as perfect as his impeccable timing, Major Dos is a mega-sized monster on a kit with chops that stack up 1,500 feet tall.
Be careful you don’t let his chameleon-quality fool you either. We disclose that this isn’t the first time he’s stunned crowds. When that kid in high school was tapping out paradiddles with his pencil in detention, Donnie was wowing the Phoenix New Times and winning sponsored drum competitions (rumor has it, with ease and maybe only a day’s notice). Already pro at the age of 14, our bass-drum beast legit eats audio for breakfast - a passion he pursued into adulthood and throughout college, where he studied music business, production and engineering. Hardly a mere tempo-tamer, Donnie had the honor of recording local legends, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, while still a student, graduated at the top of his class with honors, and followed the beat of his unique drum all the way to the Super Bowl whilst establishing himself as a veritable King Kong in this asphalt jungle. A highly-prized percussionist, Donnie cites sound for the Arizona Cardinals on his resume, with playing red carpet events, opening for national acts, mingling with Grammy producers, and murdering a rainbow of styles.
Despite recent credits including hip hop / rap group, WOODPILE, and a 3-year partnership with well-known Phoenix pop-star, MISS KRYSTAL, we maintain that the opportunity to bear witness to a bonafide prodigy doesn't happen every day. This singular marvel may very well be the last of his kind: an anomaly of enormous magnitude - with a groove guaranteed to amaze.
So… come one, come all! Come dance with the devil we call Double-D, and let the rhythm carry you away. The show is about to begin.
