Miss X isn’t your average deadly dame. This one is notorious for a special cut-throat brand of pure switchblade-sassafrass. She’s not just a singer, actress, and award-winning dancer either; Miss X’s resume also includes published music journalist and former model. Recognized locally as a “triple threat,” this Voodoo Queen grew up in Phoenix - as the poisoned-apple of every east-side bad boy’s eye, and hers is a story of moxy that begins around the same time that Miss X started singing in her middle school chorus...
That's when heavy metal happened. And alternative. And punk rock. As a teenaged fan-girl, Miss X is rumored to have snuck into every dive bar between Mesa and Hollywood, California - allegedly, to see whatever band happened to be playing. Eventually exploring the Sunset Strip, Miss X was spotted loitering around Musician’s Institute, circa 1994. After convincing an MI instructor to give her guitar lessons, she was encouraged to resume singing so as to strengthen her ear while tuning and practicing scales. Miss X subsequently took to the task of vocalizing again, but in earnest that time, and was coached in both contemporary and operatic singing styles until she learned how to play Dee by Randy Rhodes on six-strings. In the meantime, she began profitably interviewing bands for music magazines - and all before she was old enough to drink.
Already a lyricist when confined to high school detention, Miss X spent the rest of her youth day-dreaming about rock-stardom, being a pirate, a poet, an activist, a mad-scientist, and Indiana Jones. Real life didn’t stop this fox, and she did - in fact - become a world-traveler, publisher, feminist, bio-archeologist, and successful three-time entrepreneur with five college degrees and ADHD. Never-the-less, Miss X stayed faithfully committed to music, and steadily contributed to the work of many local musicians over the years, while refining the arsenal that became her skill-set.
Perhaps best-known for establishing the full-tilt vaudeville-burlesque production called THE ROCKABELLY GIRLS VARIETY REVIEW (featuring music, dance, comedy, and even stupid pet tricks), our delicious diva recruited no fewer than 30 other talented musicians and performing artists to form a rotating cast that executed an entirely new show every month - complete with props and costume changes. In an effort to save the then-endangered (but iconic) venue, The Hollywood Alley, Miss X sang, danced, and trained a pomeranian to not jump through hula hoops, while she simultaneously scripted, organized, marketed, and promoted these events in entirety. Able to pack the house with themes ranging from ‘a night at the Circus’ to ‘a USO experience from yesteryear’ and billed as "Tarts with Hearts," crowds between the ages of every-warm-blooded-American and 75 were ever entertained by ballerinas in lingerie, never-ending strip teases, and parodies layered over cover songs. The show proved itself a win; Miss X and her cast were honored to perform at major engagements, to diverse audiences, by exclusive invitation.
Every dollar earned by THE ROCKABELLY GIRLS - at venues ranging from the historic San Carlos in downtown Phoenix to the long-gone punk-rock haven hailed as Jugheads - was donated to charities, but through this experience, our razor-sharp rebel gained a solid reputation as a professional in a highly competitive music scene. Capable and enterprising, with an “outside the box” imagination, excellent management skills, and an innovative approach to showbiz, Miss X absolutely crushed the party-girl mold. After a ten-year hiatus from the stage, she auditioned to be the female vocalist for SHOWMEGOD in November of 2019 - and won it… twice. Trixie Von Vixen was the character she created for that project.
Does life imitate art or does art imitate life?
Von Vixen exited the aforementioned project after spin-off sideshow, TRIXIE & THE MISFIT TOYZ, was formed in December of 2020 by Donnie BreXXa (CYANIDE, PWR, E-BOMB, BRATT, and SHOWMEGOD). Trixie & company exceeded all expectations - from the moment they headlined their own debut (and nearly outsold FLOTSAM & JETSAM), through every event attended by revered music critics. The dynamic duo that founded the project boldly move into the future with the next incarnation, TRIXIE & THE EGO MACHINE, which is eagerly anticipated by both fans and contemporaries alike.
Von Vixen has made guest appearances on stage with both Scott Rowe (REDRUMMMED) and Bryon Mogul (ANKH ALIEN), and was working towards the establishment of JETT BLACK (a "twisted tribute" nod to the mighty Joan Jett) with punk hero, Richard Bohlen (CORKY’S LEATHER JACKET, 10-PLY), low-E freak, Frank Murguia (ADDICT3D), and renowned local drum-major, Clyde Beck. Additionally, Von Vixen is cast as Nurse Rosetta in SCOTT ROWE’S ALICE COOPER TRIBUTE - in support of sister-siren Tulin Howey (EMPIRE OF DEZIRE), who stars in the show. Von Vixen and Howey also worked together on the project known as PRETTY DEADLY, featuring the drop-dead gorgeous Jane Harrington on lead guitar, and the formidable Mandy Tieman on drums.
Von Vixen remains a favorite "special guest" throughout the Phoenix music scene, is particularly talented in song-arrangement, admired as a lyricist, and is respected as one of the top-promoters in the metropolitan area by her peers.
