In the vibrant city of Harmonyville, where neon lights danced to the rhythm of rock and roll, Trixie & The Ego Machine embarked on their 42nd quest to break their Spinal Tap curse and find a drummer. Little hope had they, for the path was littered with failed auditions, broken dreams, and shattered hopes… But then, on one uneventful Thursday - as emo as any Thursday that wasn’t the weekend - destiny came knocking. No one could have guessed that the soft-spoken, mild-mannered, unassuming figure sitting behind the kit was everything they had been looking for. He was their soulmate.
To say that Mr. Jones possessed a rare talent is simply too great an understatement. His drumming was a symphony of thunderous beats and delicate cymbal dances, keeping perfect time with Danny Vanity's pounding sub-woofer heart. His rat-tap-tap absolutely resonated with Michael Flawless' careless melodies of love, loss, and rebellion. His groove grabbed Donnie Ego by the dance floor, causing the earth to shake, and making the heavens weep.
From the moment Vendetta's sticks hit the skins, Trixie & The Ego Machine knew they had found something special. Jonesy’s drumming elevated their sound, and gave it the depth they had always longed for - but never realized. This was, at last, the kindred spirit who would forever change the course of their musical journey. Vendetta was the missing piece of the puzzle, the magic ingredient necessary to conquer stages across the nation, and leave audiences spellbound.
We know it reads like a trashy Harlequin romance with a slice of rocky mountain American pie, but this backbeat boy is as real as he is real good. Once a normal, 9-year-old raggamuffin intoxicated by the musical alchemy that was MTV (video killed the radio star, and any hope of J.V. becoming a boring ol’ tax collector), our hero hails from humble origins. Relentless and determined, he simply set his mind to the task, and a gazillion newspaper deliveries later, had both an excellent pitching arm and enough dough to buy his first drum set. Fully empowered, his passion for music grew alongside his chops, and a future tempo tamer was born.
Offstage, Jonesy’s a world-traveling corporate executive by day, and music teacher to at-risk teenagers by night - an inconspicuous, friendly, family man until the rhythm carries him away in a whirlwind of energy. You may have caught his infectious vibe at a previous performance; our hi-hat wearing snare master came to us from LUMINATUS, the valley’s most-talented rock operatic odyssey experience, and has worked with myriad artists in studio settings - even putting some starshine on celeb-collabs with the likes of Michael Gilbert (FLOTSAM AND JETSAM), John Davis (F5), and David Ellefson, (MEGADETH, F5, LUCID). Altogether, Jonesy’s journey positively proves that with dedication, you can achieve anything you set your mind to, and we’re double-time delighted to finally close the book on finding our very own awesofrickintastic human metronome.
